He founded a philosophy we now know as Epicureanism. He taught his students that happiness was the goal in life. Epicureans avoided worry by staying out of politics and public service.
Zeno
A Phoenician who developed Stoicism. Stoicism became a very popular philosophy in the Hellenistic world. When he came to Athens, he could not afford to rent at a lecture hall, so he taught at a building known as the "painted porch" Near the cty market.
